Welding Technology has virtually gained access to every branch of manufacturing. To name a few; bridges, ships, rail road equipment, building construction, boilers, pressure vessels, pipelines, automobiles, aircraft, launching vehicles and thermal & nuclear power plants. Especially in Pakistan, Welding Technology needs constant upgrading, particularly in the field of industrial and power generation boilers, thermal & nuclear power plants, chemical, petro-chemical and aerospace industries. With the widespread applications of welding, a knowledge of the same has become essential

To cater to the growing industrial demands for high quality Welding Technology in Pakistan, the need for an institute dedicated to welding had always been felt. This need became all the more acute as there was not a single organization in Pakistan that could cope with the increasing industrial needs in the field of Welding Technology.

To look after the needs and requirements of the entire manufacturing industry in the country, "The Pakistan Welding Institute" with its objectives of becoming a center of excellence in welding, was therefore established in 1995.
