LASERS

PINSTECH has an excellent laser laboratory that is fully equipped with a variety of homemade lasers. It includes continuous wave CO₂ laser (100 Watts), pulsed TEA CO₂ laser (10 Joule 100 ns) as well as the  most efficient visible copper Vapor Laser (35 Watt). In addition to the applications of lasers in materials processing, evaporations, surface hardening, etc., they can be used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in the hospitals. A portable CO₂ laser for surgery has also been developed. Narrow band dye lasers which are extremely important for atomic spectroscopy have also been fabricated.

We have started fabrication of laser based land leveling systems Accurate, convenient to use and affordable, the equipment is useful for agriculture, civil engineering, construction and surveying.

Electron bean technology is making notable contributions in aerospace, electronics, computers, automotive, nuclear power and metal industry.

PINSTECH has acquired the necessary skills and expertise in this mature and viable technology.

Our indigenously designed electron guns are being used in the laboratory for over a decade. These electron guns, 270^o beam bent and focused by permanent magnets, have 15 kilowatt power. They are also suitable for use in the coating industry. They have the capability to evaporate any metal.

Line Electron Gun 35 kilowatt is very useful for melting and thermal processing of semiconductors with its beam sweep capability. This electron gun, 180^o deflection beam, has an additional advantage and flexibility due to its external Helmholtz coils.

We have recently designed as an initial step, a 5 kilowatt axial electron gun, more useful for welding and melting applications.

PINSTECH is in a position to render services for the repair and maintenance of the lasers being used in the country.
