The Nuclear Power Engineering (NPE) setup has been established to achieve self reliance in design and engineering of nuclear power plants through: development of design and engineering team; acquisition/development of latest design and analytical techniques in architect engineering of NPPs; provision of technical support to operating nuclear power plants; software acquisition and development for NPP design and enhancement of research and development facilities. NPE comprises of four directorates: |
|||||||
| a |
|
Directorate of Nuclear Power Engineering - Reactor
| For design and analysis of nuclear reactor core, in-core fuel management, thermal hydraulics, safety and accident analyses, nuclear measurements, licensing and safety assessment of NPP, vibration analysis and software development. DNPER has been providing fuel management and associated safety analysis services to C-1 on regular bases. The Directorate has supplied indigenized advanced reactor core surveillance systems to C-I, including the Loose Parts Monitoring System and Reactor Internals Vibration Monitoring System. | |||||||
| b |
|
Directorate of Nuclear Power Engineering - Plant
| For design and engineering of Nuclear Island, Conventional Island, Balance of Plant which include Process System Design, Electrical and Instrumentation System Design and Mechanical Equipment Design. Compliance to International Codes and Standards and requirements of regulatory body is ensured through well established Quality Assurance Program for Siting and Design of Structures, Systems and Components. DNPEP has also acquired capability to design Nuclear Power Waste Facilities for NPPs. DNPEP is also providing technical support to operating NPPs in specialized areas such as Stress analysis and Supports Design for Piping and Equipment. | |||||||
| c |
|
Directorate of Nuclear Power Engineering - Structures
| For site selection and evaluation, determination of design basis parameters against all natural and manmade hazards, preparation of site evaluation report, development of FEM models, structure analysis of all static, dynamic, impulsive and imp active loads, generation of floor response spectra, preparation of tender & construction drawings, technical specs for construction, BOQs, QA aspects; | |||||||
| d |
|
Directorate of Nuclear Power Engineering - Technical
| For activities related to back end projects of Nuclear Fuel Cycle. | |||||||
