PAEC organizes two-month orientation course for new inductees

A two-month orientation course was organized by Directorate of Human Resource Development (HRD), PAEC at National Centre for Physics (NCP), Islamabad for the new entrants of PAEC Junior Engineers from 14 September to 13 November 2011.

Mr. Jamal-ud-Din Ahmed, Member (Systems) was chief guest at the inaugural session. During the orientation course, Chairman, PAEC, Dr. Ansar Parvez along with Member (Systems), concerned DGs and Director (HRD), visited NCP and witnessed the proceedings of the course.

Director, HRD briefed about objectives of the orientation course, followed by a question/answar session between participants and Chairman, PAEC.

Chairman appreciated the efforts of all concerned especially Directorate of Human Resource Development for preparing young engineers for future responsibilities.

The first week was devoted to lectures such as Nuclear Safety, Security, Industrial Safety, Project Monitoring, Administration, Establishment, Technical Procurement, Project Management, Budget, Audit and Finance.

Six weeks were devoted to technical training . Forty one entrants attended this orientation course. These engineers will join various projects of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission after their orientation. Seven serving officers of Directorate General of Safety also attended the course.

The last week’s class proceedings aimed at improvement in behavior, motivation and time management. The concluding ceremony was held on 13 November, 2011. Mr. Muhammad Naeem, Member (Fuel Cycle), PAEC was the chief guest.

The participants appreciated the contents and conduct of this training course as it prepared them to take up their respective tasks in actual job requirements.

It may be recalled that other than this pre-absorption training, PAEC has a vast educational and training programme to prepare the human resource for its own needs and those of other strategic organizations. These institutes include Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), Karachi Institute of Power Engineering (KINPOE) and CHASNUPP Centre for Nuclear Training (CHASCENT) offering M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in variety of disciplines, and professional training to nuclear power plant operators.
