‘The Nucleus’ is an international quarterly scientific journal of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) having ISSN No. 0029-5698. It was launched in 1964 at Karachi , Pakistan , and shifted to PINSTECH, Islamabad , in 1993 at a time when the publication of the journal had been suspended since 1989. The new Editor-in-Chief was entrusted with the responsibility to rejuvenate the journal and to bridge the publication gap of the previous years. As a result of the dedicated efforts of the team members of Radiation Physics Division not only the publication of the journal was made regular but its quality was also improved. About 25 issues of the journal containing 428 have been published from 1989 to 2004.

  • 40th year of the journal

The Proceedings of several national and international seminars / conference have also been covered.


The submission of contribution to the journal is open for all Pakistani and foreign scientists. An article submitted for publication is sent to two referees for evaluation. As a result of our strict criteria of refereeing about 20% papers have either been rejected or withdrawn by the authors after refereeing during the period 1994-2004.


The Yearly subscription of the journal is 
                   Local:    Rs. 500.00/- 
                   Foreign: $ 30.00 or equivalent.
The circulation of the journal is 500 copies per issue.
