Services

The allied services available at the Institute include ultrasound, mammography and diagnostic X-Ray. MINAR was the first to offer institution based ultrasound service in Multan. Many Ultrasound examinations were pioneered at MINAR, these include echocardiography, occular  ultrasound, cranial ultrasound and targeted obsterrical ultrasound.

Collaboration

MINAR is collaborating with Nishtar Medical College & Hospital, CMH Multan, Baha-uddin Zakariya University, PIEAS, CPSP and PMRC for post graduate training in a number of disciplines of medicine. A multimedia projector to boost the academic activities at the Institution has recently been acquired.

 


About

MINAR is one of the 13 Medical Centres run by the PAEC. It is  located at Multan which is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of the world and is famous for its shrines and mangoes.

MINAR is ideally located within the premises of Nishtar Hospital campus. It serves a population area of over 14 million and the catchment area includes the southern Punjab, adjoining areas of Sindh, Baluchistan, and NWFP. From a humble start in 1968 as AEMC, Multan, it has made a tremendous progress, and became an Institute in 1995, with the name of MINAR.

Initally it was providing only nuclear medicine services with a rectilinear scanner and an uptake system. The first gamma camera was installed in 1981 and subsequently new gamma cameras were installed in 1989 and 1994.

The institution started its radiotherapy department in 1989 with a high dose rate brachy therapy after loading system. In 1991 a teletherpy Co-60 unit also started functioning at the Institute. The RIA department started in 1981 with a gamma counter. Two more gamma counters were added to the RIA laboratories in 1989 and 1995.

Presently it provide a wide range of services in the field of nuclear medicine, RIA and radiotherapy on outdoor as well as indoor basis. Besides this, allied services being rendered to patient include ultrasonography and mammography.
