Registration

All the new patients report to the reception for registration.

Registration include following

• Formation of patient file with complete bio-data Issuing of Patient registration card Payment  of  registration  fee of Rs. 10/- only.

• Payment of Rs.10/- for Larkana Cancer Society

• Already registered patients also report to the reception to get their file before seen by the concerned  doctor. 

Schedule and Preparation for Nuclear Medicine Studies

1. Thyroid

    

        1. Thyroid scintigraphy

   1. No specific preparation is required

   2. Thyroid Scan and thyroid function tests are performed thought-out  the week.

   3. Scan is not done in pregnant women.

   4. Lactating mothers need to stop baby feeding for two days

        2.  Thyroid Function Test

   1. Thyroid function test are done using Radioimmunoassay technique.

   2. Blood is collected daily.

   3. Report is delivered within two weeks.

2. Bone Scan
   

   1. No specific preparation is required.

   2. Bone Scan is done on Tuesday and Thursday of every week.

   3. Appointment  for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least two days before.

   4. Patient should reach early in the morning because it takes about 4 hours to complete the  scan.

   5. After injection of Radioisotope patient should drink lot of water and micturate frequently.

      

3. Renal Scan
   

   There are two types renal Studies.

    

          1. Dynamic Renal Scan (DTPA)

   1. Dynamic Renal scan is done on Monday

   2. Appointment for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least two days before.

   3. Patient should reach early in the morning.

   4. Patient should take more water before the Scan.

   5. Children  should be sedated and passed I/V Canula before dynamic study.

            2. Static Renal Scan (DMSA) 

   1. Renal Scan (DMSA) is done on Wednesday. 

   2. Appointment for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least  two days before.

   3. Patient should reach at Hospital early in the morning because it takes about 4 hours  to complete the Scan.

   4. Patient should take water more before the Study/Scan.

4. Brain Scan

   1. Brain Scan is done on Monday and Saturday

   2. Appointment for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least two days before.

   3. Patient should reach at Hospital early in the morning.

   4. Brain Scan takes about 2 hours to complete the Study/Scan.

   5. Children should be sedated and I/V canola before Scanning.

5. Cholescintigraphys

   1. Cholescintigraphy is done on Wednesday and Friday.

   2. Appointment for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least two days before.

   3. Patient should reach at Hospital early in the morning.

   4. Cholescintigraphy takes two hours (may required 24 hours) to complete the study.

   5. Children should pass the I/V Canola before the study.

   6. Patient should come without break fast.

   7. Infants and neonates required one week phenobarbitone therapy before scan.

6. N.L.D., LUNG SCAN, MICHEL'S STUDY,
   
   can be performed on the same  day if  the patient is prepared. No special preparation is required for NLD and Lung scan.  However at least three days H2 blocker therapy is required for Mickel's scan to increase the sensitivity of  the  test.
   

7. Exercise Tolerance Test (ETT)

1. ETT is done on Wednesday and Thursday of every week.

2. Appointment must be taken for the Test two days before.

3. Patient should come  early in the morning with light break fast (slice and  tea only).

4. Patient should miss the dose of the  anti-hypertensive  and cardiac drugs 24  hours before the test.

5. Patient should shave the hairs of chest before the test.
