Registration
All
the new patients report to the reception for registration.
Registration include following

Formation
of patient file with complete bio-data Issuing of Patient
registration card

Payment
of registration fee of Rs. 20/- only.

Payment
of Rs.20/- for Larkana Cancer Society for the registration in
Nuclear Medicine and Rs.40/- for Radiotherapy
-
Already
registered patients also report to the reception to get their file
before seen by the concerned doctor.

Schedule
and Preparation for Nuclear Medicine Studies

Thyroid
1. Thyroid scintigraphy
-
No
specific preparation is required
-
Thyroid
Scan and thyroid function tests are performed thought-out
the week.

Scan
is not done in pregnant women.
-
Lactating
mothers need to stop baby feeding for two days
2. Thyroid Function Test
-
Thyroid
function test are done using Radioimmunoassay technique.
-
Blood
is collected daily.
-
Report
is delivered within two weeks.
-
Bone
Scan
-
No
specific preparation is required.
-
Bone
Scan is done on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
(necessity basis) of every week.
-
Appointment
for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least two days
before.

Patient
should reach early in the morning because it takes about 4 hours
to complete the scan.

After
injection of Radioisotope patient should drink lot of water and
micturate frequently.

Dynamic
Renal Scan
-
Dynamic
Renal scan is done on Monday
-
Appointment
for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least two
days before.

Patient
should reach early in the morning.

Patient
should take more water before the Scan.
-
Children
should be sedated and passed I/V Canula before dynamic study.

Brain
Scan
-
Brain
Scan is done on Monday and Saturday
-
Appointment
for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least two
days before.

Patient
should reach at Hospital early in the morning.
-
Brain
Scan takes about 2 hours to complete the Study/Scan.
-
Children
should be sedated and I/V canola before Scanning.
-
Cholescintigraphys
-
Cholescintigraphy
is done on Wednesday and Friday.
-
Appointment
for the Scan must be taken from Reception at least two
days before.
-
Patient
should reach at Hospital early in the morning.
-
Cholescintigraphy
takes two hours (may required 24 hours) to complete the
study.
-
Children
should pass the I/V Canola before the study.
-
Patient
should come without break fast.
-
Infants
and neonates required one week phenobarbitone therapy before
scan.

N.L.D.,
LUNG SCAN, MICHEL'S STUDY,
can be performed on the same day if the
patient is prepared. No special preparation is required for NLD and
Lung scan. However at least three days H2 blocker therapy is
required for Mickel's scan to increase the sensitivity of the
test.

Exercise
Tolerance Test (ETT)
-
ETT is done on
Wednesday and Thursday of every week.
-
Appointment must be
taken for the Test two days before.
-
Patient should come
early in the morning with light light break fast
(slice and tea only).
-
Patient should miss
the dose of the anti-hypertensive and cardiac
drugs 24 hours before the test.
-
Patient should shave
the hairs of chest before the test.
-
Cardiac
Scan
Patient should have
appointment at least two days prior to study
-
Patient should stop all
the caffeine containing intakes (i.e. tea, coffee, cakes) 24 hours
before cardiac test.
-
Cardiac medicines
should be stopped one day prior to study.
-
Male patients should
shave chest hair for cardiac scan.
-
Usually one day, but
some times two days protocol is followed. In one day protocol, the
test can take 5-6 hours
-
Patient should come
with fasting / light breakfast.
-
Done on Thursday in one
day protocol.
Preparation for
Radiotberapy and Cbemotberapy
-
No Specific preparation
is required in radiotherapy and chemotherapy except for
barchytherapy.
-
In brachytheapy
treatment, patients are instructed to come without breakfast or with
light break fast (slice and tea
only).
Indoor
Patient Care
For the patients of far away and other cities other than Larkana,
32 bed wards are available. Here relevant indoor services are provided
to cancer patients round the clock.
Day
Care Patient Ward
For administration of Chemotherapy, a day care ward comprising of
26 beds is available where cancer patients receive chemotherapy under
supervision of doctors and nursing staff.
