About
Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission established LINAR as its fifth Nuclear
Medical Center at Larkana in the year 1978 to provide diagnostic and
treatment facilities for benign and malignant diseases to the patients
belonging to Upper Sindh, lower Punjab and lower Baluchistan.
Larkana
Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy (LINAR) is situated on
the West Bank of Rice Canal adjacent to Shaikh Zaid Women Hospital.
LINAR is spread over an area of 9.5 Acres of land. As it is located in
hot zone of the country, the building is centrally Air-conditioned for
the convenience of cancer patients. LINAR is equipped with modern
instruments required for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.
Facilities
for indoor ward were started in April 1996.
The
doctors at LINAR are actively involved in teaching and training
Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Nuclear Medicine and various aspects of
Cancer problems to the undergraduate Medical students of attached
Chandka Medical College as honorary teaching staff members. They provide
on job training to the freshly graduated young doctors of
Chandka Medical College Teaching Hospital for preparing the future force
against Cancer.
Institute
is actively involved in arranging the seminars and symposia on different
cancer related topics. For this purpose an Air-Conditioned furnished
seminar Hall with audiovisual facilities is available.
The
Institute plays important role in public awareness about early detection
and treatment of various cancers. For this purpose doctors of LINAR
visit different Taluka & District hospitals.
LINAR
library has excellent collection of various books and periodicals
especially related to cancer and nuclear diagnostics LINAR has two well
equipped departments namely Radiation oncology and Nuclear Medicine
