Manpower Training
The
objective of manpower training is to qualify the operators and engineers
to be capable of operating and maintaining KANUPP to the highest degree
of excellence as required in a nuclear industry. To achieve this
objective KANUPP has established its own training facilities:
KANUPP
Institute of Nuclear Power Engineering (KINPOE) formerly called Karachi
Nuclear Power Training Centre (KNPTC) ever since its inception in 1972
has been providing trained engineers and technicians to KANUPP and other
PAEC establishments.

KANUPP Institute of Nuclear Power Engineering
KINPOE
offers two programs for fresh engineers and diploma holders in all
engineering fields. The fresh engineers undergo a two year course
leading to a Master's degree in Nuclear Power Engineering from NED
University of Engineering Technology. The diploma holders undertake a
one year training program in the field of Nuclear Power Technology.
Besides the main regular programs, KINPOE also conducts short courses on
nuclear related subjects as and when demanded by any of the PAEC
establishments.
To
operate KANUPP, key shift personnel such as Senior Operation Engineer
and Operation Foreman must be licensed by Directorate of Nuclear Safety
and Radiation Protection (DNS&RP). The In-Plant Training Centre
provides specialized training to shift personnel enabling them to clear
the regulatory examinations and acquire operating licenses.

In-plant Training Centre (IPTC) at KANUPP
The
centre also provides refresher training courses to shift personnel.
Besides the regular training of shift personnel, batch training of
operators and engineers is also conducted at the Centre. The standard of
the training is ensured by a very strict training evaluation system.
Apart
from the theoretical and practical training through KINPOE and In-Plant
Training Centre the Plant personnel are regularly exposed to technical
seminars, symposia, meetings and specialized training, arranged within
the Plant as well as abroad through IAEA.
