1. Teaching, Training and Collaboration
Teaching radiological physics and instrumentation
to Trainee Medical Officers (TMOs) of attached Ayub Teaching Hospital
Complex (ATHC), Abbottabad as well as practical training in Nuclear
Medicine Department.
Lectures are being arranged for Technologist and Nursing staff in order
to familiarize them to the basics of Oncology, Radiation Protection,
Radiotherapy and day care Chemotherapy.
2. Publications / Presentations/Events
a. Colorectal Carcinoma Symposium
Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology, INOR in
collaboration with Ayub Teaching Hospital Complex Abbottabad, organized
a half day “Colorectal Carcinoma” symposium at INOR, Abbottabad. Member
Bio-Sciences was the chief guest.
The following lectures were delivered by the experts from INOR;

The symposium was attended by prominent Surgeons,
Gastroenterologists and Pathologists from Ayub Teaching Hospital Complex
Abbottabad, Frontier Medical College, CMH and other Private Hospitals
from Abbottabad.
b. Cancer Awareness Program
Regarding the cancer awareness, one day visits were
arranged to Mansehra, Haripur and Battagram, DHQ Hospitals and CMH. In
this visit experts from Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Departments
participated. The visits were lead by the Director INOR. The following
lectures were delivered.

Dr. Amjad Aziz Khan, Director INOR, delivered an elaborate lecture on
“Facilities Available at the Department of Nuclear Medicine, INOR” and
an Introductory Lecture on “INOR”, at DHQ Hospital Battagram, DHQ
Hospital Mansehra, DHQ Hospital Haripur and CMH, separately.

Dr. Muhammad Furrukh (SMO) Head Radiotherapy & Oncology delivered a
lecture on Cancer Awareness, at DHQ Hospital Battagram.

Dr. Saif Ur Rehman (SMO) delivered the same lecture at DHQ Hospital
Mansehra.

An elaborate lecture was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Furrukh (Consultant
Oncologist, INOR) on “Gastric Cancer; A Clinical Update and Treatment
Controversies” at INOR, attended by surgeons and gastroenterologists
from Ayub Teaching Hospital Complex, Frontier Medical College &
Hospital, and CMH, Abbottabad.
c. Presentations

A lecture on “CA Rectum” in educational session
of “ONCO 2004” held under the auspices of PSCO & PAEC in Dec. 2004 at

A lecture on “Chemotherapy in Head and Neck Cancer” in scientific
session of “ONCO 2004” held under the auspices of PSCO & PAEC in Dec.

CA Prostate” in “ONCO 2004” in Rawalpindi. By Dr. Saif Ur Rehman

d. Awards

Mr. Amjad Hussain (JS, Medical Physicist INOR) was awarded Best Thesis
Gold Medal and a Gold Medal for attaining first position and scoring an
overall 4.0 GPA in Medical Physics session 2001-2003 (PIEAS).

Best scientific study award on delivering scientific paper “3D
Conformal Radiotherapy in organ confined CA Prostate Gland” in “ONCO
2004” held under the auspices of PSCO & PAEC in Dec. 2004 at
Rawalpindi.
